Naderson Saint Pierre

EP. 07

Biography

Born in Gonaïves, Haiti, Naderson Saint Pierre’s artistic journey began in childhood as a storyteller. What started as weekly tales told to anyone who would listen gradually transformed into a lifelong devotion to creative expression. A self-taught painter, Saint Pierre is best known for his vibrant and compelling portraiture of Black subjects — works that explore love, family, and identity through color, emotion, and narrative depth.

His art reflects both his personal story and the broader human experience. Growing up, his family lost their home in a flood, forcing them to move frequently and leading him to miss two years of school. Yet it was during this unstable period that he discovered art — a source of freedom and purpose that has stayed with him ever since.

In 2019, Naderson moved from Haiti to Florida, where he experienced profound cultural change and began to refine his artistic voice. Though life there was stable, his spirit sought something more. In 2022, inspired by The Alchemist — the story of a young man’s journey to find his treasure — he made the bold decision to move to New York City. It wasn’t an easy path: he faced homelessness, often sleeping on subway trains, in hotels, or at friends’ homes. But each challenge strengthened his resolve to pursue art as his destiny.

Since then, Saint Pierre has exhibited in more than thirty shows across New York, France, the Netherlands, and South Korea. His portraits continue to honor Black identity, resilience, and love — while also serving as testaments to his own perseverance and faith.

“To Where Treasure Is”, the documentary film about Naderson’s journey, follows this courageous pursuit of purpose — from his roots in Haiti to the streets of New York. Through his story, I hope audiences find the courage to embrace their own path, to persevere through hardship, and to seek the treasure that lies within their journey.

Artist Statement

My art is rooted in storytelling — a language I first learned as a child in Haiti. Before I ever picked up a brush, I told stories to anyone who would listen, using words to make sense of the world around me. Painting became the natural continuation of that impulse — a way to speak without words, to translate emotion, memory, and resilience into color and form.

Through my portraits, I celebrate Black identity, love, and family, drawing from both my own experiences and the shared humanity that connects us all. Each face I paint carries a story — of strength, displacement, faith, or hope — told through layers of vibrant color and emotional depth.

My journey has not been easy. Losing my home in Haiti, moving between places, and eventually finding myself in New York City — these experiences shaped not only who I am but what I paint. They taught me that art can be both a refuge and a mirror, a way to endure and to understand.

I create to remind others, and myself, that even in hardship there is beauty, and within every struggle there is purpose. My work is a reflection of perseverance — a belief that, like in The Alchemist, our greatest treasure lies not in what we find, but in the journey that leads us there.

Anthony Rondinone

EP. 03

Biography

Anthony Rondinone (b. 1984) is an American painter born and raised in the Bronx, New York. The son of a carpenter and a nurse, Rondinone grew up in a working-class, immigrant household — experiences that shaped his deep understanding of struggle, emotion, and resilience. His paintings channel these formative influences into a bold visual language that exposes the raw complexities of human nature.

Rondinone’s work often features distorted human forms and reimagined popular culture icons, from The Simpsons to Sesame Street. Through these twisted and chaotic figures, he explores the hidden emotions beneath everyday facades — pain, isolation, addiction, and vulnerability. His expressive brushwork and psychological depth invite viewers to confront the darker sides of contemporary life, challenging the line between absurdity and truth.

By transforming familiar characters into emotional archetypes, Rondinone compels audiences to see beyond the surface, revealing what society often avoids: the fragility, humor, and humanity that coexist within our flaws. His art is at once unsettling and deeply empathetic — a mirror to the emotional chaos of modern existence.

Artist Statement

My work is an exploration of the emotional realities that exist beneath the surface of everyday life. Growing up in the Bronx, I was surrounded by struggle, resilience, and raw human emotion — experiences that continue to shape how I see and paint the world.

Through distorted figures and reimagined pop culture icons, I seek to expose what lies behind familiar faces — the pain, confusion, and vulnerability that many hide. Characters from shows like The Simpsons or Sesame Street become emotional vessels in my paintings, reflecting universal truths about addiction, isolation, and identity. Their warped forms may appear chaotic or grotesque, but within that chaos is honesty — an unfiltered portrayal of what it means to be human.

I’m drawn to the tension between humor and darkness, absurdity and empathy. My art isn’t meant to comfort; it’s meant to confront. I want viewers to recognize themselves in the distortion — to feel, reflect, and perhaps understand the beauty that exists within imperfection.

Calicho Arevalo

EP. 05

Biography

Calicho Arevalo is an internationally acclaimed, New York City–based visual artist recognized for his vibrant large-scale paintings, murals, sculptures, and digital art. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Calicho masterfully weaves his cultural heritage with the dynamic energy of New York City, creating works that are both visually striking and deeply symbolic.

At the core of his artistic language lie four defining elementsthree-line stripes, wildlife, doodles, and portals. The three stripes pay homage to his Colombian roots, echoing the colors and spirit of his homeland. His depictions of wildlife evoke humanity’s shared connection to nature, while his recurring dark portals explore time, space, and resilience, symbolizing the endurance and transformation that come through life’s challenges.

Calicho’s distinctive doodles celebrate diversity, simplicity, and freedom, serving as visual affirmations of individuality and unity. His celebrated collections — including We Are Gold and Rebirth Darkness — embody these principles, encouraging inclusivity and reminding viewers of the inherent worth within every person.

Drawing inspiration from the streets of New York and the cultural richness of Colombia, Calicho Arevalo continues to redefine contemporary art through bold expression, cultural storytelling, and a timeless message of human connection.

Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of identity, culture, and transformation. As an artist born in Bogotá and now rooted in New York City, I create from the dialogue between two worlds — one shaped by the vibrancy of Colombian heritage and the other by the rhythm and diversity of this city that never sleeps.

Across paintings, murals, sculptures, and digital art, I build a visual language centered around four recurring symbols: three-line stripes, wildlife, doodles, and portals. These forms connect my story to a broader human experience — the stripes honor my roots, wildlife represents nature’s universal voice, and portals speak to the movement through time, space, and resilience.

Through my recent collections, such as We Are Gold and Rebirth Darkness, I explore the idea that every individual holds intrinsic value — a brilliance that exists beyond struggle, judgment, or fear. My doodles, often playful and spontaneous, celebrate diversity and the freedom to exist authentically.

Ultimately, my art is about connection — between cultures, between people, and within ourselves. It’s an invitation to look beyond the surface and rediscover the gold that lives in all of us.

Michelle Buser

EP. 04

Biography

Richmond, Virginia–based mixed-media artist Michelle Buser has been creating for as long as she can remember. A lifelong artist and professional graphic designer, she earned her B.A. in Visual Arts and Technology with a concentration in Graphic Design and Communications from George Mason University, just outside Washington, D.C. Though she has always drawn, Michelle began painting in 2019 as a self-taught painter, expanding her creative practice into fine art and portraiture.

Michelle’s work explores the intersections of human experience, romanticism, nature, and portraiture. Her mixed-media approach bridges realism and emotion — advocating for the external beauty of individuality while embracing the deeper connection born from shared human experiences. Through themes of vulnerability, empowerment, and strength, she invites viewers to reflect on the balance between one’s inner self and the surrounding world.

The concept of “connection” is central to her art. Her acclaimed portrait series Soul and her new oil painting collection Dolce Far Niente embody her belief in the importance of self-reflection and harmony with nature. For Michelle, painting is both a therapeutic journey and an act of storytelling — a visual dialogue about what it means to feel deeply and live authentically.

Working across a variety of media including acrylic, inkwash, graphite, charcoal, pastel, and conte, Michelle often integrates tactile materials such as beading, foil, and fabric textures, blending fine art with elements of culture and fashion. She also works in printmaking, digital art, and photography, extending her creative language across multiple forms.

Michelle curated her debut exhibition Reclamation (2019) in Culpeper, VA, a show centered on body acceptance and the reclamation of self. After relocating to New York City, she exhibited in several notable spaces including Brooklyn Art Cave, Caelum Gallery, The East Village Art Collection, and The Parlor Manhattan. Her work has appeared in Bleucalf Magazine (Vol. 4) and earned her the Artists of Today Grant. Now based once again in Richmond, Michelle continues to develop her evolving body of work — one that celebrates the power of connection, healing, and the beauty found within human stories.

Portrait Series of “Souls”

“The Eyes are the window to the soul.”

People relate to each other more than they know. However, it is more common to spot differences. That is likely the root of all the problems we see in today’s society.

Michelle’s works are philanthropic pieces of art that promote an idea of ‘connection’ that aims to bring out people’s humanity and empathy in her audience more: “…[A] connection to each other as one”. And it could be the only solution to all of the challenges and problems we are facing in today’s society.

Connection. This is what Michelle’s portraiture is all about. Michelle selects a figure that inspires her to imbue emotions and feelings into her portraitures. By focusing solely on human expression, Michelle eliminates judgment, fear, prejudice, and many social issues. Just by painting the human figure’s face, Michelle's works guide the audience to focus on the figure’s expression to let it inspire people to observe, feel, and perhaps resonate with their emotions.

Her intention calls the audience to pay attention to each painting and spark their empathy. Michelle’s works are mediums to serve as a reminder of the audience’s own past, hoping for them to reach a degree of resolution or reconciliation: “…maybe it serves as a reminder in your home of what you’ve overcome or simply…the sweetness of life…[or] gives a sense of appreciation”.

“Whether it’s toughness or sadness, a childlike absentmindedness or joy, I hope it reminds people that we’re all the same at heart and people deserve that chance to be greeted with compassion first.”

The oil series “The Sweetness of Doing Nothing / The Art of Leisure“

In the oil series of “Dolce Far Niente,” Michelle’s work embraces a simple and balanced life by painting nature as a subject with daydreamy and nostalgic feelings.

Growing up in a small town in Virginia, nature has been a huge spiritual influence on Michelle. These have been a core life force for Michelle to hold onto while she was working in DC - where intense workaholic cultures are considered a source of pride. However, such culture may overrun one’s balance in life and thus contribute to a disconnection between one’s self and social life.

From the experience of living two different lives in different living environments, Michelle urges her audience to value more on a spiritual connection to one’s self and other people. Instead of prioritizing societal norms and their harmful byproducts, Michelle highlights the idea of ‘doing nothing‘ but committing to knowing their inner self and being aware of their connection to the outward environment - with the world. Such inspiration came from her travel in Italy, the origination of the phrase where they live.

Painting nature as an art piece may be a blend idea. However, as for its nature, that is what art is. Michelle uses nature as an element to proclaim that being close to nature is essential, and that very idea extends to an idea of people revisiting themselves to feel colorful, dreamy, romantic, and nostalgic. For Michelle, it is a serenity to paint them.

Robert Blanco

EP. 03

Biography

A self taught artist from a city of Miami, Robert Blanco is both studio painter and street artist. In his studio, he uses acrylic paint for canvas works. In streets, he uses spray cans for mural works. Majority of his work are influenced by his surroundings and how he experiences from them. From that surroundings, he processes his own inspiration from organic pattern of nature to cityscapes into his work.

In today’s time, Blanco is a successful artist traveling and painting nonstop. However, it was not all like that before. In fact, he was in different profession until the catastrophic event  COVID19 occurred. This documentary piece tells a story of his return to art scene with a new artistic style called ‘unfazed’. The style and its origins are what inspired Everyartist to collaborate with Blanco.

In today’s time, societal/social elements and their byproducts influence one’s decision making. To certain extent, people may make decisions that are influenced by other element not solely based on what the people truly desire. And, they make decisions set by or shaped by societal expectations and ‘standards‘. This is what Blanco realized during COVID19.

Blanco’s story and his ‘unfazed‘ style encourages us to focus on what our heart says while being indifferent to other societal/social expectation set upon us.

Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of the world around me — the colors, patterns, and emotions found in both nature and the city. I create in two spaces: the studio and the streets. On canvas, I work with acrylics to explore form and feeling; on walls, I use spray paint to express movement and freedom.

After stepping away from art for years, the events of COVID-19 reminded me of what truly matters. From that moment came my style, “Unfazed” — a way of painting that rejects outside noise and expectations. It’s about creating with honesty, staying true to what the heart says, and being unshaken by what society tells us to be.

Through my art, I hope to inspire others to live and create without fear — to stay unfazed.

Jonathon Lee Shannon

EP. 01

Biography

Jonathon Lee Shannon is originally from North Carolina, but now lives in NYC, working as an artist and art handler. He was always creative growing up and loved anything that had to do with art. When Jonathon was in 8th grade he was in a tragic accident that put him in the hospital with the risk of losing his vision. It took years for Jonathon to fully recover, but he used art to help him through the hard times.

Several years later, Jonathon received his BFA at Savannah College of Art and Design. Being the first of his generation to go to college, He wanted all of what college had to offer. So he traveled study abroad to France and Hong Kong to further his understanding of art history. Throughout his years at SCAD he received several scholarships and worked with artists such as Patrick Dorothy and Xu Bing. During his junior year he was honored a scholarship to a residency program at Anderson Ranch, a location in Snowmass Village, Colorado. It was here where he gained a deeper understanding of abstract art and developed his own concept of painting.

Artist Statement

My work is inspired by the direction civilization is heading. As we push away from the industrial revolution and focus more on sustainability, artists are thinking of new ways to create. I feel we are starting to move in a reverse direction, which inspired the concept Reverse Reality. I see the world in two basics forms, organic and geometric.

I start by sketching the composition in charcoal using traditional methods of direct observation. Then I paint these basic forms in reverse. Making organic forms, like trees and people, into simplified flat geometric shapes, while capturing the movement and expression. In contrast I paint the basic geometric forms, like building, cars, and man-made objects, organically. Making the form more fluid and expressive, with no hard line or edge. Creating a new way of looking at the world.
